Cerny Garners Second Sun Belt Weekly Honor of 2021

TROY, Ala. – Logan Cerny has been named the Sun Belt Player of the Week for the second time this season, the league office announced Tuesday. This is the second weekly honor of the sophomore's career.
Cerny finished the weekend 7-for-11 (.636) with a double, triple and two home runs in a series win over Georgia Southern. In Sunday's rubber match, the center fielder recorded his second multi-homer game of the year and became the first Trojan to homer in consecutive at-bats since April 2019.
In Saturday's 11-8 win over the Eagles, Cerny went 3-for-3 with a triple, drew two walks and stole two bases.
Cerny is second in the conference and 18th nationally with seven home runs on the season. The Lawrenceville, Ga. native has batted in a league-best 23 runs and is slugging at a remarkable .803 clip. Thirteen of the speedster's 21 hits this season have gone for extra bases.
Troy is back in action Wednesday against Alabama State at Riverwalk Stadium in Montgomery. First pitch between the Trojans and Hornets is set for 6 p.m.
