Notes: Women's Basketball takes on Texas A&M in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament

TROY, Ala. – The Troy women's basketball team will open the 2021 NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament on Monday when the No. 15 seeded Trojans take on the No. 2 seeded Aggies of Texas A&M. The game is being played at the Frank Ewing Center on the University of Texas campus. The contest will tipoff at 5 p.m. (CT) and will be aired lived on ESPN2.

MOST WINS IN PROGRAM HISTORY
A season ago Troy's senior class set a new program mark for career wins with 87. This season, having played fewer games than previous years due to covid-19, the senior class was able to tie the program record of 87 with a chance to set a new mark on the biggest stage.

TROY IN THE NCAA TOURNAMENT
Troy is making its fourth all-time appearance in the NCAA Tournament. The Trojans enter the 2021 tournament with an 0-3 record. This is the third straight tournament that Troy has been a 15 seed. In the previous two games as a 15-seed, Troy has been outscored 100-183. The Trojans have never won a postseason game, including the WNIT and WBI.

ROOKIES TO THE BIG DANCE
Although Troy has multiple players on its roster with Junior College National Championship to their names, this will be the first NCAA Tournament appearance for all 13 members of its team.

TIYAH JOHNSON CAN SCORE
Since the start of conference play, Tiyah Johnson has been a scoring machine. The senior has score in double figures in 17 of the last 20 games. She had a season long streak of nine straight games between Jan. 29 and Feb. 26.

ONE OF THE BEST AT SCORING POINTS
Troy ranks third nationally in points per game, averaging 86.2. They trail only Maryland (91.3) and Iowa (86.6).

ALEXUS DYE - WOW
Alexus Dye was the best player in the Sun Belt Conference this season. Through 27 games she has earned an NCAA best, 22 double-doubles, four more than anyone else in the NCAA. Dye is one of only two Sun Belt players averaging a double-double, Felmas Koranga is the other. Dye leads the conference in rebounding (12.6 rpg) and in scoring (16.2 ppg). Dye is also the first Sun Belt player since the 2009-10 season to lead the conference in both scoring and rebounding. Dye is just four rebounds shy of setting a single-season program record for boards in a season with 344.

Texas A&M, ranked No. 4 by the AP and Coaches, will be Troy's highest ranked opponent since playing at No. 2 Mississippi State in 2016. The Trojans are 0-23 all-time against nationally ranked teams but 0-0 on neutral courts

Last season Troy ranked 175th nationally in total assists with 386. This season the Trojans rank 10th with 459 assists.

Troy's bench has played a major role in the team's success. The Trojans play a lot of players during the game with 10 different players averaging at least 10 minutes per game, compared to just six for Texas A&M. Emely Rosario and Tyasia Moore have been key bench players for Troy as Moore comes in and averages just under 10 points and Rosario averages over two assists per contest. On the year Troy has 733 bench points and has scored at least 10 bench points in 26 of 27 games this season
