Cerny Tabbed Sun Belt Player of the Week

TROY, Ala. – Logan Cerny has been named the Sun Belt Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday. This is the first weekly honor of the sophomore's career.
Cerny had one of the best outings of Opening Weekend in the country against Youngstown State. He blasted three home runs and two doubles in the Saturday contest against the Penguins, tying the school record for total bases in a single game (16) set in 1990.
The Lawrenceville, Ga. native was the first Trojan since 2014 to hit three home runs in a game since Jo-El Bennett did so in 2014.
Cerny totaled seven RBIs and scored three runs during his 5-for-5 day at the plate. The sophomore is slashing .625/.667/2.000 after the first weekend of play and leads the Sun Belt in home runs, total bases and is tied for the most doubles.
The center fielder was also tabbed as a Collegiate Baseball National Player of the Week yesterday. Prior to the season, Cerny was listed by D1Baseball as the No. 6 prospect in the Sun Belt for the 2021 draft.
Troy returns to action tonight at Riddle-Pace Field for a 6 p.m. matchup against in-state foe UAB.
