Troy Women’s Basketball Drops Heartbreaker to Tulane

NEW ORLEANS, La. – A second-half Tulane comeback powered the Green Wave past Troy, 91-84, Wednesday night at Fogelman Arena.
Za'Nautica Downs led the way for the Trojans (4-5) with a season-high 17 points.
For Tulane (7-3), Moon Ursin paced the Green Wave with 18 points. The guard added 13 rebounds and 10 assists, good for a triple-double.
How It Happened
After the Green Wave opened the contest on a 5-0 run, Troy, sparked by a three pointer from Tiyah Johnson, began chipping away at Tulane's advantage. A fast-break layup from Johnson knotted the game up at 17 midways through the first quarter before the guard gave Troy its first lead of the night, 20-19, with just under four minutes left in the opening period. A pair of free throws from Moon Ursin cut Troy's lead to one at the end of the first.
Back-to-back made buckets from Johnson, and Za'Nautica Downs kickstarted an impressive second quarter for the Trojans. Just like they kicked off the second period, the duo ended the period with a pair of layups to give Troy a six-point advantage, 47-41, heading into the break.
Tulane battled to even the score at 50 all with 7:14 left to play in the third quarter. Sparked by a jumper from Ursula Clark, the Green Wave strung together an 8-0 run to take a 60-52 lead. Troy chipped away to make it just a five-point deficit, thanks to a layup from Tina Stephens to end the quarter.
At the 7:49 mark of the final quarter, Felmas Koranga knocked down a jumper to give Troy the lead; however, a 9-0 stretch for Tulane solidified the Green Wave comeback.

- Five Trojans ended the game in double figures: Tiyah Johnson (12), Jada Walton (10), Za'Nautica Downs (17), Tina Stephens (14) and Ja'Mia Hollings (10). It marked the first time since March 6, 2021, against Texas State that the Trojans had five players in double figures.
- It marked the first time Downs and Hollings scored in double-digits as a Trojan.
