TROY, Ala. – Troy men's tennis head coach Rolando Vargas announced Wednesday the signing of Yeray Andres Pastor to a National Letter of Intent; Pastor will join the Trojans beginning with the 2022-23 athletic season.
"We are thrilled to have Andrey be part of the Trojan Family," Vargas said. "He is a player who can make an impact right away and he brings a lot of experience with already solid results. More importantly, he fits our culture, which will definitely make a difference in achieving our goals."
Pastor, one of the top junior players at his age level in Spain, ranked as high as No. 96 in the "absolute" rankings and was ranked as high as No. 2719 in the International Tennis Federation men's rankings at age 17. This past summer, he advanced to the third round of the M15 Xativa and the second round of the M25 Denia, both ITA World Tennis Tour events.
Pastor joins a Troy men's tennis team that is coming off a semifinals appearance in the Sun Belt Conference Championship last year and a final No. 8 ranking in the ITA Southern Region.
