Women’s Tennis Closes Out Mercer Gridiron Classic

MACON, Ga. – Highlighted by a pair of singles quarterfinals appearances, the Troy women's tennis squad wrapped up their opening tournament of the season Sunday at the Mercer Gridiron Classic.
After winning a pair of matches Friday, Michelle Ncube advanced to the Flight B2 quarterfinals. Ncube ultimately fell to the flight champion, Emilia Alfaro, 6-3, 6-1.
In the Singles Flight C1, Kristina Kukaras recorded a pair of wins Friday to also advance to the quarterfinals. Kukaras fell to Daniela Rivera, 6-3 6-3.
On the doubles side of action, Ncube and Olivia Elliot won their opening round matchup Friday. On Saturday, the duo picked up another win before eventually falling in the semifinals.
The women's tennis team will return to action at the Samford Invitational. Action will kick start Friday, Oct. 8 and run through Sunday, Oct. 10.
