Troy Well Represented in NFL Conference Championship Games

TROY, Ala. – Four teams, two games, one goal. The NFL season is nearing its culmination with Super Bowl LV nearly two weeks away in Tampa Bay. Two former Troy Trojans are among the players who will be playing in this weekend's NFL Conference Championship Games vying for one of the two prized spots in the largest spectacle in professional sports. Troy will be the lone Sun Belt Conference school with two players on active rosters this upcoming this weekend.
In his first season with the Buffalo Bills, Mario Addison is seeking his second trip to the Super Bowl after playing in Super Bowl 50 in 2016 with the Carolina Panthers against Troy Hall of Famer DeMarcus Ware and the Denver Broncos.Troy is the 𝙊𝙉𝙇𝙔 @SunBelt school with multiple players remaining in the NFL Playoffs 😤

Traded to Tampa Bay in mid-October, Steve McLendon is also seeking his second Super Bowl appearance after helping lead the Pittsburgh Steelers to Super Bowl XLV in 2011.
Addison had a pair of tackles, a sack and a quarterback hit in the Bills' victory over Baltimore in the AFC Divisional Playoffs this past weekend. Signed as a free agent in the offseason, Addison led the Bills with five sacks and was second with 7.5 tackles for loss in helping lead Buffalo to its first AFC East Division title and playoff victory since 1995.
McLendon recorded a tackle and two quarterback hits on Drew Brees in the Buccaneers' victory over New Orleans this past Sunday in the NFC Divisional Playoffs. McLendon's veteran leadership helped guide the Bucs to an 11-5 record and first playoff victory since Tampa Bay won Super Bowl XXXVII in 2002.
McLendon and the Bucs open Sunday's schedule against Green Bay at 2:05 p.m. in a game televised on FOX, while Addison and the Bills take on Kansas City at 5:40 p.m. on CBS.
Troy has a rich history in the Super Bowl with nine former players totaling 12 Super Bowl appearances earning a total of eight Super Bowl rings.
