Notes: Women's Basketball Returns To The Court vs Georgia Southern

TROY, Ala. – Following a week hiatus after the postponement of its game at Georgia State, the Troy women's basketball team will back on the hardwood for a two-game series against Georgia Southern. The Trojans will host the Eagles inside Trojan Arena on Friday at 6 p.m. and then again on Saturday at 4 p.m.

Going For 16 Straight vs Georgia Southern
Troy has dominated the all-time series against Georgia Southern, holding an impressive 15-2 lead. The Trojans enter the weekend series having won 15 straight games against the Eagles, including the last 11 as Sun Belt foes. Troy's only two losses to GS came back in the first two meetings which were held on Dec. 11 & 13 of 1978. Last season Troy won the only meeting between the two clubs, 79-69 on Jan. 16 in Statesboro. Last season was the first time since both schools have been members of the Sun Belt that they only played once during a season. In last season's contest Troy trailed GS by one entering the second-quarter before scoring 22 straight points and holding the Eagles scoreless for nearly nine. In that quarter Troy allowed just three total points.

BIG TIME PERFORMER: Tyasia Moore
» Moore had her best game as a Trojan on Jan. 2. The senior from Washington, D.C. posted career-highs in points (22), rebounds (13), made field goals (9) and assists (4) while also earning her first-career double-double.
» She scored six of the teams first 14 points of the game while grabbing three boards, earning a steal and an assist all within the first four minutes of the game.
» Moore also went 4-for-4 from the free throw line and 6-for-6 in two games against App State
» In nine games this season Moore has already scored 108 points (12.0 ppg) and is just 45 points away from eclipsing her total from 2019-20. Last season she played in 26 games

ASSISTS ARE A GOOD THING
Troy has assisted on 159 of its 281 made field goals so far this season, or 56 percent of all made field goals. It's Troy's highest assist to made field goal percentage since the 2007-08 season when it assisted on 57 percent of its made field goals. Troy is averaging 17.6 assists per game.

EVERYONE SCORES
In the opening weekend of its Sun Belt Conference schedule, Troy found scoring from numerous areas. Of the 12 Trojans that saw action, five averaged double-digits; Janiah Sandifer (15.0), Tyasia Moore (14.0), Alexus Dye (14.0), Felmas Koranga (13.5) & Dunlap (10.0). Following closely behind that group was Tiyah Johnson (6.5) and Sharonica Hartsfield (5.0). In total nine different Trojans scored at least a point against App State.

SUN BELT ELITE
Since 2012 Troy has earned a 92-59 record in Sun Belt Conference games. Troy's 92 wins are the second-most, trailing only Little Rock (119-33). Rounding out the top five are: Arkansas State (90-60), UTA (80-52), Texas State (71-61). Troy has posted a winning record in every season since 2014-15 and is the only team in the conference to have been over .500 in each of the past six seasons.

GEORGIA STATE RESCHEDULED
Troy's two game road series at Georgia State that was originally scheduled for Jan. 8-9 has been rescheduled for Feb. 15-16. Troy and Ga. State will play four games against each other over a six-day period. Prior to the Monday night game Troy will play two games against South Alabama on Thursday, Feb. 11 & 13, so the Trojans will play six games in 10 days.
