Lorup Paces Troy at UNF Collegiate

TROY, Ala. – Nicole Lorup fired a 1-under 71 in Monday's second round of the UNF Collegiate to lead Troy to a 10th place standing following 36 holes of play. Lorup is tied for 11th place overall following her eighth under par round of the year.
The Trojan sophomore used a run of four birdies over a five-hole period to turn a 2-over par into 2-under after 11 holes. She followed with six pars and a bogey to close the day at 1-under, an 8-shot improvement from her opening round tally of 79. Lorup will have to make up four shots Tuesday to claim her third top-five finish of the spring and sixth of the year.
Troy shot rounds of 23 and 26-over par on the day to find itself in 10th place and 16 shots back of a top five finish. The Trojans will have a fight on their hands Tuesday with six teams behind them on the leaderboard within six shots.
Despite not carding a single birdie all day – she did have an eagle on the par-5 No. 1 – Elisabeth Preus is just three shots back of a top 10 finish in a tie for 21st place at 8-over par. ShaeLee Scarberry is tied for 53rd place at 15-over par following rounds of 78 and 81 with one birdie, while Ainsley Cowart is tied for 71st place at 20-over par with a birdie. Anna Claire Little is two shots back in a tie for 76th place, also with a birdie on her card.
Teams will conclude play Tuesday with 18 holes beginning at 7:30 a.m. on a shotgun start.
