Trojans Take Down the Tigers in Hattiesburg

TROY, Ala. –Troy women's tennis traveled to Hattiesburg to take on Jackson State on Saturday, before playing host Southern Miss on Sunday. The Trojans defeated the Tigers 4-2 in a match that saw big days from Anastasiia Khokhlova and Anastasiia Khrustaleva.

Doubles
• In number one doubles Anastasiia Khrustaleva and Anastasiia Khokhlova defeated Iesha Sheperd and Sherine Salem 6-1 to claim a 1-0 advantage in doubles play .                                                                       • The second match in doubles play that concluded came from the number two doubles where Matea Mihaljevic and Shevita Aulana faced off against Robin Alston and Sofia Beggiatto, which saw the Trojans taking the match 6-2. This Troy win clinched the doubles point for the Trojans on the day.
• In number three doubles Jackson State grabbed the win due to Troy not having a number three doubles pair, which made the score 2-1, but Troy still walked away with the doubles point.

Singles
• The first match to conclude in singles play came from number six singles as Maria Martinez of Jackson State came away with the victory because Troy did not have a player in number six singles. This victory evened the match at 1-1
•The second singles match that concluded on the afternoon saw Matea Mihaljevic take on Robin Alston in number one singles. Mihaljevic took the match 4-1, due to Alston retiring in the first set giving Troy a 2-1 lead.
• The third match that concluded on the afternoon came from number two singles, where Anastasiiaa Khokhlova grabbed a singles victory 6-1, 6-2 over Sherine Salem to give Troy the 3-1 lead.
• The fourth match that concluded came from number four singles saw Tijana Svitlica lose to Sofia Beggiato 6-4, 6-3 to make the score 3-2 in favor of the Trojans.
• In number five singles Anastasiia Khrustaleva faced off against Noelle Frenzel, where Khrustaleva walked away with a 1-6, 6-1, 6-4 victory giving Troy a 4-2 lead, which clinched the match for the Trojans.
• In the final match of the afternoon, Shevita Aulana was in a three set match with Iesha Sheperd, but it was left unfinished at 6-4, 3-6, 4-4 due to Troy clinching the match
