Notes: Women's Basketball Travels to Mobile for Leap Day Game vs In-State Rival

TROY, Ala. – Troy women's basketball is set to hit the road for its final three regular season games of the season. The first road trip will take the Trojans to Mobile, Ala. to take on in-state rival, South Alabama on Saturday at 4 p.m. for just the second leap day game in program history. This will be the second meeting between the two schools this season with Troy having won the first meeting back on Feb. 1.

The Trojans earned their 22nd win of the season last Saturday against Arkansas State. The victory ties last season's win total and puts Troy just one game away from tying the program record for wins in a season which was set back during the 1996-97 season when the squad went 23-7. With a win on Saturday, Troy will clinch a top two seed in the Sun Belt Tournament while also earning the double bye straight to the semifinals in New Orleans on March 14 and 15. Â

South Alabama (13-14, 8-7 SBC)

South Alabama enters Saturday with a 13-14 overall record and an 8-7 record in the Sun Belt Conference. South hasn't finished a season with a record below .500 since 2016-17 when they went 11-20. At home this season, South is 9-7. They lost their last home game against Little Rock 58-69 last weekend. In conference home games they are 5-3. South has lost three of its last four games with their lone win coming against Arkansas State back on Feb. 20. South nearly beat Coast Carolina back on Feb. 15, falling 73-76 in the final seconds. The Jags have had Troy's number when the game has been played in Mobile, as they hold a 15-7 advantage in those games

• Troy's last win against South in Mobile was back on Dec. 31, 2016 (73-57). The last time Troy won back-to-back games against South was in 2017-18 in Troy and then in New Orleans. Last regular season sweep was 2016-17
• Last season February gave the Trojans some trouble as they went 4-3 in the month. Troy is 6-1 so far this season in February tying their mark from the 2017-18 season. A win would tie Troy's 7-1 mark set back in 2014-15 and 1979-80 as the best winning percentage for the month of February
• On the road this season Troy has posted an 8-3 overall record and a 5-1 SBC road record. In road games they are averaging 79.3 points per game while allowing 76.3. Troy is averaging 3.3 ppg less on the road than at home while allowing 14.4 more ppg
• In conference play Troy is ranked 3rd in defensive field goal percentage, holding opponents to just 35 percent shooting from the field. They ranked fourth in 3-point FG percentage defense at 27 percent
• Troy leads the country in free throw attempts (676), offensive rebounds per game (22.9), rebounds per game (55.58), total rebounds (1,445), rebounding margin (+15.7) while ranking second in free throws made (454), and 9th in scoring (80.3)
• Alexus Dye ranks second in the Sun Belt in rebounds per game at 10.1 rpg. Dye has been one of the best newcomers in the Sun Belt this season ranking second among all newcomers in points per game (11.9) and ranks first in rebounds among newcomers
• Kate Rodgers ranks eighth in the Sun Belt in blocked shots per game with 0.9 blocks per contest. In conference play she has blocked 14 shots
