Thomas Garners Back-To-Back Pitcher of the Week Honors

Troy, Ala. – Levi Thomas has been named the Sun Belt Pitcher of the Week for the second week in a row, the league office announced Tuesday. Thomas becomes the first Trojan to receive a weekly honor in back-to-back weeks since Bryan Miller did it in three straight weeks in 2008.
"Levi was terrific Friday in his last start" head coach Mark Smartt said. "His command and execution was possibly the best it's been in his career. He has earned this type of recognition through his hard work and outstanding performance. What makes him special is he doesn't focus on his accolades but chooses to focus on improving every day."
Thomas is coming off another stellar Friday night performance against Louisiana Tech in which he allowed no hits and no runs in 6.0 innings of work. The right-hander struck out five of the first six batters he faced to begin the game.
The Cullman, Ala., native has put together an impressive stat line so far this season. Thomas has allowed just two hits and no runs to go along with 25 strikeouts in 11.0 innings. His 25 strikeouts rank second nationally and his WHIP of 0.27 is the sixth best in the country.
Thomas is expected to be the Friday night starter when the Trojans travel to Gainesville, Fla., to take on No. 1 Florida this weekend.
