Â
TROY, Ala. – Troy sophomore golfer Eli Charron has been selected to represent the Sun Belt Conference at the 2020 Student-Athlete Leadership Forum in Los Angeles April 16-19.
Â
A native of Brentwood, Tenn., Charron is in his third season on the men's golf team and plays an active role in the Troy's Student-Athletic Advisory Committee where he serves on the executive committee. Despite competing year-round, Charron has maintained a 4.0 GPA majoring in accounting, having been named to the Chancellor's List for five consecutive semesters.Â
Â
As a SAAC member, Charron helped raise $10,000 for breast cancer research through Troy's "Bench Out Breast Cancer" event this past fall.
Â
Created in 1997, the NCAA Student-Athlete Leadership Forum was served as a life-changing experiences for more than 5,000 student-athletes who have grown personally and professionally as a result of their attendance. Student-athletes selected to attend the forum return to campus with invaluable leadership skills, a refined understanding of the relationship among personal values, core beliefs and behavioral styles, and the support of a close personal network of like-minded peers to provide continued connection and dialogue after the program concludes.Â
Â
Currently, each Division I and Division II conference office selects student-athletes from among their active member schools and an administrator from the conference office, to represent their conference at the forum. For Division III, the forum is open to all institutions in an identified region based on a first-come, first-served basis in the eligible region. Each eligible institution can send up to two student-athletes and one administrator.
Â
The Student-Athlete Leadership Forum is a unique educational opportunity that requires diversity and inclusion. Consideration for selecting Leadership Forum participants should be given to student-athletes with a diverse representation of experiences and those that have a positive influence on campus and within the community.
