Women's Basketball Set for Big Weekend Inside Trojan Arena

TROY, Ala. – Troy athletics and women's basketball is preparing for an important weekend of women's hoops, as the first-place Trojans close out their 2019-20 home schedule. The top ranked team in the Sun Belt will not only be honoring its seniors and past letter winners, but also be fighting for the programs first regular season championship since 1997 as well as seeding for the Sun Belt Tournament.

The women's basketball program will enter Thursday with a 20-4 overall record and an 11-2 Sun Belt record, both program bests for this point in the season. This weekend Troy will host Sun Belt rival Little Rock, currently fourth in the standings, on Thursday, Feb. 20 at 6 p.m. followed by their final home game of the season against Arkansas State on Saturday, Feb. 22 at 4 p.m. Saturday's game will also serve as senior day and letter winners day.

With the Sun Belt changing the tournament format this year both games this weekend could play major roles in determining what seed Troy earns in the conference tournament. The Trojans, tied with Coastal Carolina for first, currently own a 2-game lead over UTA, a 3-game lead over Little Rock and a 4-game lead over Louisiana and South Alabama. This season the top two teams will earn a double bye into the semifinals, hosted at The Smoothie King Center in New Orleans. Seeds three & four will host three games at home sites, two first round games and a quarter final game, with the winner of each pod advancing to the semifinals in New Orleans. Â Â
