Â
"This is a big deal for Conner to play in the Jones Cup Invitational and represent Troy University at an event for elite amateurs," head coach Bart Barnes said. "His invitation is a testament to the hard work that he's put in as a Troy golfer."
Â
First contested in 2001, Jones Cup began as an opportunity to celebrate not only the game of golf but also the camaraderie and fellowship associated with it. This 54-hole individual stroke-play event is played at Ocean Forest Golf Club, designed by Rees Jones. The Jones Cup brings together many of the finest amateurs from the United States and abroad for this three-day competition.
Â
The event is a "category A" tournament in the World Amateur Golf Ranking, giving it status as one of the top 30 men's amateur tournaments in the world.
Â
Futrell turned in four top 10 performances in Troy's five fall events including a pair of third place finishes and one second place finish. He set the Troy school record with a 7-under 64 in the first round of the season and shot in the 60s eight different times.
