Trojans Hit the Road Again for Saturday Matchup at Arkansas State

JONESBORO, Ark. – The Troy Trojans men's basketball program completes a daunting five-game, 10 day stretch Saturday afternoon at Arkansas State.
The Trojans, who began 2020 at ULM on Jan. 2, continued to Lafayette for a game on Jan. 4. After a matchup with the Texas State Bobcats on Jan. 6, Troy returned home for just one game on Thursday.
Following the quick trip to Jonesboro, Troy returns home for a pair of matchups at Trojan Arena next week, as Georgia Southern visits Troy on Jan. 16, before the Panthers of Georgia State come to Troy next Saturday, Jan. 18.
LAST TIME OUT- (Troy, 7-10, 3-3 Sun Belt).
The Trojans look for the program first three-game Sun Belt Conference winning streak Saturday afternoon since the Trojans won four straight conference games from Feb. 3-15, 2018. The Trojans won the first game of the streak on Monday night at Texas State. In that game, the Troy built on a slim 29-28 advantage, outscoring the Bobcats 42-35 in the second half. On Thursday, Troy built on the victory, defeating first place Little Rock, 76-71 at Trojan Arena. In the victory, Troy's starting back-court of Desmond Williams, Ty Gordon and Darian Adams combined for 40 points, 11 3-pointers and 10 assists. Adams scored a game-high 18 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for his first career double-double. The Trojans hit 15 3-pointers in a game for the first time since January of 2017, when they hit 17 3-pointers against Scott Cross and the UT Arlington Mavericks. The Trojan defense held the potent Little Rock defense to just 5-of-23 from three (21.7 percent) and to 23-of-68 (38.2 percent) from the floor.
LAST TIME OUT- (Arkansas State, 8-7, 3-3 Sun Belt)
The Arkansas State Red Wolves enter Saturday's matchup with an overall record of 11-6 and 3-3 in the Sun Belt. Saturday's matchup against Troy will Arkansas State's fifth Sun Belt home game in the first seven games of conference play. The Red Wolves opened Sun Belt Conference play with a 79-67 victory over Louisiana before earning a hard fought 62-59 victory over ULM. The Red Wolves opened 2020 with a three-game homestand, going just 1-2 after dropping a pair of games to UT Arlington (73-52) and Texas State (70-67). The Red Wolves rebounded on Monday defeating Georgia State 90-87, before falling Thursday night at South Alabama (75-59). Four Red Wolves are currently averaging at least 10 points a game, led by Canberk Kus (11.4 points, 4.9 rebounds) and Caleb Fields (11.3 points, 3.3 rebounds). The Red Wolves have lost three of their last four overall.
