Troy Falls to ETSU

JACKSONVILLE, Ala. – Troy (2-1, 0-0 Sun Belt) fell in its final game of the Jax State Invitational Saturday afternoon in a hard-fought contest with ETSU. The Trojans took set one from the Bucs, a 2018 NCAA Tournament qualifier, but could not seal the deal.
Cheyenne Hayes was dominant once again for the Trojans as she led the way with 19 kills, while Halston Hillier tallied 11. Amara Anderson remained a steady setter, registering 37 assists against the Bucs.
Jeffcoat was once again a firm anchor at Libero, digging 11 balls. Natalie Hummel added 12 digs of her own for the Trojans.
How It Happened
Hayes picked up right where she left off yesterday, hitting home six kills in the opening set. Troy fell into an early hole, but once again came alive late in the set, taking it 25-23.
ETSU would respond in the second set, though. The Bucs tied the match at one set apiece after taking set two, 25-19.
Troy was not able to respond in the third set as ETSU took control of the match, winning 25-9.
The Trojans would battle hard in the fourth, gaining a late lead in the set, but ultimately fell, 24-26.
