Cheyenne Hayes – a 2018 All-Sun Belt Second Team member – led the team in kills, points and aces last season. The junior tallied 441 total kills last season and her 237 kills against league opponents was third-most in the conference and is the second-most among returning Sun Belt players.
Amara Anderson registered the most assists by a freshman in school history with 1,217 during her rookie campaign. Her 645 assists against Sun Belt competition is the second-most among returning league players.
Troy also returns its digs leader in Lacey Jeffcoat who tallied 441 on the season, the seventh-most in a single season in school history. The Mountain Brook, Ala., native averaged 3.80 digs per set which is the ninth-most ever by a Trojan in a single season.
Sophomore Halston Hillier returns to the lineup for the Trojans after missing the last half of the 2018 season due to injury. The Cumming, Ga., native led the team in hitting percentage last season, knocking home nearly 33% of her attempts.
"For [Halston] to be back in the gym and feeling good is huge for us," Lauer said. "She's been solid this preseason for us. We expected that, but it's been fun to watch."
Freshman Progressing
Troy's trio of freshman have taken full advantage of the first few weeks of practice and are set to make their mark on this year's squad. Ashley Guenveur, Julia Brooks and Jessica LoPresti have made their presence felt throughout the preseason.
"[The freshman] come in everyday and get their work done," Lauer said. "They've raised their level every day and we have high expectations."
