TROY, Alabama – Responsible for one of the most iconic plays in Troy football history, Junior Louissaint returns to Troy as the football sideline reporter on the Troy Sports Radio Network, Troy Director of Athletics Brent Jones announced Wednesday.Â
Â
Louissaint, a native of Miami, Fla., played on Troy's 2003 and 2004 squads under head coach Larry Blakeney and was named to the All-Sun Belt First Team following his senior season. It was in that season that Louissaint, an offensive lineman, made national headlines when he returned a fumble 63 yards for a touchdown in Troy's victory over No. 19 Missouri – the play would go on to be a finalist for the Pontiac Game-Changing Performance of the Year.
Â
"We are thrilled to have Junior join the Troy Sports Radio Network this season," Jones said. "Junior's name resonates throughout the Troy fan base, and he will bring a new dynamic to our broadcasts by painting a picture through the eyes of a former player. His knowledge of Troy football and ability to connect to our fans, alumni and former players solidifies our extremely talented broadcast team."
Â
Louissaint joins "Voice of the Trojans" Barry McKnight, analyst Jerry Miller and studio host Doug Amos as the broadcast team for the 2019 season. McKnight returns for his 18thseason as the play-by-play voice for Troy Athletics, while Miller is in his 27thseason on the broadcast team and Amos returns for his fourth season.
Â
Following his career at Troy, Louissaint went on to play professionally with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the Canadian Football League and then with the Lakeland Thunderbolts and Florence Phantoms in the Arena Football League.
Â
Louissaint returned to Troy and was an assistant football coach at Pike County High School for three years where he was also the head girls basketball coach for two years before moving into the private sector.
