Men's Basketball Coaching Staff
Â
TROY, Ala. – Troy men's basketball head coach Scott Cross has finalized his coaching staff with the addition of Marshall Moorhouse as Director of Basketball Operations and promoting Trent Patterson to video coordinator.Â
Â
"I am very excited about the additions of Coach Marshall Moorhouse and Coach Trent Patterson," Cross said. "Our new Director of Operations will be Coach Moorhouse, who was the video coordinator on staff at Texas A&M over the past few years and Coach Patterson was a part of the previous staff as the graduate assistant this past season and will be our full time video coordinator."
Â
Moorhouse comes to Troy after being at Texas A&M since Aug. 2013. Previously Moorhouse served as the video coordinator in the 2018-19 season. In that role, Moorhouse was in charge of four student workers, created scouting reports and film edits for each opponent, played a major role in creating recruiting graphics, mail-outs and schedules for the coaches, created practice and workouts schedules and was the main point of contact for individual and father-son camps during the summer of 2018.Â
Â
Prior to being promoted to video coordinator, Moorhouse was the graduate manager from 2016-2018. As the graduate manager he produced recruiting graphics, assisted coaches with video edits, opponent scouts and film breakdown, and helped in on-campus recruiting visits for all high school recruits. Moorhouse began his time at Texas A&M in 2013 as he was a student manager until 2015.Â
Â
A native of Corpus Christi, Texas, Moorhouse received his bachelor's degree in business administration in business management in 2016 and his masters in sport management in 2017 from Texas A&M.
Â
"Coach Don Maestri was the first person to recommend Coach Moorhouse as they worked together very closely at Texas A&M," Cross said. "I also have a couple of other friends in the business that worked with Coach Moorhouse, and they all thought that he would bring a lot to our program because of his organization, work ethic, love of the game, and background with photo and video software that we use."
Â
Patterson was promoted to video coordinator role in June of 2019 after previously serving as the graduate assistant for the 2018-19 season. As video coordinator Patterson handles the breakdown of team and opponent video, assists with analytics, handles all team gear necessities and assists with any administrative responsibilities assigned by the head coach.
Â
As the graduate assistant, Patterson served as the video coordinator, assisted with player development and analytics and managed all adidas gear orders. Patterson was named graduate assistant in June of 2018 after serving as the head student manager for Troy men's basketball from 2016-2018.
Â
Patterson began his career in basketball administration as serving as a camp coach in the summers of 2016 and 2017, working at New Mexico State University and VCU. Native of Dothan, Ala., Patterson graduated from Troy University in 2018 with a degree in sport management and a minor in leadership.
Â
"When I first started April 8th, I could see that Coach Patterson was a 'go getter.'," Cross said. "Taking initiative is probably the second most important characteristic of a good assistant, and Coach Patterson showed me very quickly that no job was too small for him. He knows how everything works here at Troy, and he is highly organized and motivated and helped make my transition much smoother."
Â
"I have no doubt that Coach Moorhouse and Coach Patterson will make our program better each and every day and will work with Coach Mangrum, Coach Johnson, and Coach Worley to build a championship atmosphere right here at Troy!"
