TROY, Alabama – Coming off a semifinal appearance at the Sun Belt Baseball Tournament, Troy juniors Drew Frederic and Lance Johnson were named to the All-Tournament Team following Sunday's championship game.
Â
Frederic provided the heroics in Troy's walk-off victory over Little Rock in the quarterfinals on Friday to cap a 3-for-4, 4-RBI performance. The Trojan shortstop pulled Troy to within one, 4-3, with a two-run home run in the sixth inning and then laced a two-out, two-run double down the line in left field in the bottom of the ninth inning to give Troy the victory.
Â
The Niceville, Fla., native doubled twice and drove in two runs in Troy's victory over Louisiana the day before. He finished the week with six RBIs, three doubles, a home run and a pair of stolen bases.
Â
Johnson appeared in three of Troy's four games in Conway and earned the win against Little Rock following 2.2 scoreless innings of relief. The Alabaster, Ala., native entered the game with the bases loaded and just one out in the seventh inning; he induced a weak groundout and then struck out the next batter looking to strand all three base runners.
Â
He allowed just one earned run and three hits over his six innings at the Sun Belt Tournament and finished with five strikeouts compared to just two walks. Johnson finished the season with 36 career appearances which ranks as the second most in a season in Troy history.
