Matthew Likely Advances to 200m Quarterfinals at NCAA East Prelims

Jacksonville, Fla. – Matthew Likely led the way for Troy track & field by qualifying for the quarterfinals in the 200m at the NCAA East Preliminaries at Hodges Stadium at the University of North Florida on Friday.

Likely tied his personal record as he finished third in his heat and 11th overall in a time of 20.65 seconds. The quarterfinal is set for Saturday at 6:50 p.m. for a chance to make it into the NCAA Division I Championship in Austin, Texas.

In the 110m hurdles, Casimir Tawiah ran a personal best time of 14.05 seconds. Niata Alexander finished the 200m race in 23.90 while Jared Hayes finished the race in 21.20 seconds.

In the final day of competition at the NCAA East Preliminary Round, Titus Sizemore will compete in the high jump at 3 p.m. CT., and both women's and men's 4x100m relay (5 p.m. & 5:15 p.m.) and the 4x400m relay (8:25 p.m. & 8:45 p.m.) teams will race.
