Troy Sets Another School Record at 125th Penn Relays

Philadelphia, Pa. – In the second day of competition at the 125th running of the Penn Relays, Troy track & field qualified for the championship section in four events, set a school record and saw three athletes set their personal records on Friday at Franklin Field.Â

ADVANCING
Sophomore Jared Hayes set his personal record in the 100-meter dash, finishing first in his heat and sixth overall with a time of 10.51 seconds. Hayes will race in the championship section on Saturday at 2:45 p.m. Junior Alexis Garrett advanced 100m hurdles championship section after placing eighth overall in a personal record time of 13.85 seconds.

In the 4x100m relay, Hayes, junior Matthew Likely, sophomore Quinest Bishop and freshman Kaleb Allen-McDuffie won their heat in 40.47 seconds, finishing third overall to advance to the College Men's 4x100 Championship of America Invitational.

Hayes, Likely, sophomore Jordan McCleskey and junior Harrison Dudley ran the 4x400m relay and will compete in the 4x400m college championship section after finishing the race in 3:12.45.Â

SCHOOL RECORD
The women's shuttle hurdle relay team of Garrett, senior Sydney Henderson, junior JaMeeka Middlebrooks and sophomore Michaela Thompson set the school record with a time of 56.82 seconds, securing third overall in the championship event.Â

RELAY
Seniors Gabrielle Henderson, Sydney Henderson and Niata Alexander and freshman Maya Kelly combined to finish seventh in the championship with a time of in 45.67 seconds.

THROW
Junior Austin Snyder set his personal record in the shot put, launching a distance of 16.27 meters which gave him 13th place. Additionally, Snyder's mark is good for fourth in school history.Â
