MIRAMAR BEACH, Florida – Troy slipped two spots into 11thplace following Tuesday's final round of the Sun Belt Men's Golf Championship at The Raven Golf Course. Sophomore Connor Futrell paced the Trojans as he tied for 15th place overall at 3-under for the week.
Futrell tied for third in the field with a collective 4-under on the par 4 holes for the week and was among the leaders with 13 birdies over his 54 holes. He started out strong with a birdie on No. 10 to open his round and made the turn at 1-over following a double on No. 18. Futrell birdied the par-4 fifth to get back even for the day.
Georgia Southern won the stroke play portion of the championship and will be the No. 1 seed in match play after blistering the course to the tune of 21-under par on Tuesday. Coastal Carolina locked down the No. 2 seed, No. 28 Arkansas State is the three seed and ULM defeated UT Arlington in a playoff for the No. 4 seed.
Dean Martin and Brent Hamm also posted even-par rounds on Tuesday with Martin carding five birdies and Hamm adding three. Martin, who tied for 40th, made the turn at 1-over and followed with a 1-under 34 on the back nine. Hamm tied for 51stplace overall and ended his run on a high note with birdies on two of his final four holes.
Will McFadden shot his best round of the week with a 1-over 72 in a round that consisted of three birdies as he tied for 46thplace. Ike Alexander, who had two eagles during the week, tied Hamm for 51stplace at 9-over for the tournament after shooting 6-over on the day despite five birdies.
Georgia Southern's Steven Fisk defeated Arkansas State's Luke Naglic in a playoff for the individual championship; the pair tied at 11-under for the tournament.
