Jared Hayes Earns Sun Belt Honor

2019 Troy Performance List
Troy, Ala. – Troy men's track and field sophomore Jared Hayes has been named Sun Belt Conference Men's Track Athlete of the Week, as announced by the league office on Wednesday evening.
Hayes earned the honors after winning the 200m race at the Joe Walker Invitational in a season best time of 20.89. His race-winning time is currently the fastest 200m men's time in the Sun Belt Conference, 36th-fastest in the NCAA Division I-East rankings and sits 46th in all of NCAA Division I.
Hayes' honor marks the first Trojan to garner a Sun Belt weekly award this outdoor season and first since teammate Michael Alvernaz won field athlete of the week on Feb. 14, 2018 last season. Additionally, last season Hayes took home the Sun Belt Conference Men's Freshman of the Year accolade.
This season, both of Hayes' 200m times are the fastest amongst Troy athletes as he also ran the race in 21.04 seconds at the Florida Relays on March 29.
