GAME NOTES
TROY, Alabama – Fans and students will WHITEOUT Trojan Arena as the Troy women's basketball team kicks off a Saturday doubleheader against South Alabama at 2 p.m. The men's team will follow against the Jaguars at 4:15 p.m.

Troy (18-6, 9-4 SBC) is looking to make a late-season surge to claim the No. 2 seed in the upcoming Sun Belt Conference Tournament. Under the new tournament format, the top two teams get a triple-bye to the semifinal round. The Trojans enter the weekend a game and a half behind UT Arlington for second.

South Alabama (19-5, 8-5) won the last meeting between the schools. Led by sophomore guard Savannah Jones' 31 points, the Jaguars made 10 of their last 11 field goals of the game to pull out an 80-77 win.

The first 1,500 fans will receive a WHITEOUT game rally towel courtesy of ALDOT while the first 500 Troy students will receive a WHITEOUT game t-shirt courtesy of Premier Dodge Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram. The entire Troy cheerleading squad will be in attendance and the pep band will have a larger number to add even further to the environment that surrounds the WHITEOUT game presented by Troy Bank and Trust.

On Monday, South Alabama sophomore guard was named Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week for the second time this season. The first was following her career-high 31-point performance against Troy on Feb. 2.

Jones averaged 23 points and eight rebounds per game, while shooting 55 percent from behind the arc, in South Alabama's two wins at home this week. On Thursday night against Georgia Southern, Jones went for a game-high 28 points, shooting 7-for-11 (.636) from deep, and grabbed eight rebounds in the 73-60 victory. Jones' seven three-pointers tied a career-high, previously set this season at Coastal Carolina.Â

• In Troy's last game, junior guard Tyra Johnson knocked down six 3-pointers in a five-minute span in the fourth quarter. The program record for threes in a game is seven set in 2003.
