Troy Routs Georgia Southern

TROY, Alabama – In a game that was full of fireworks, Tyra Johnson and Troy finished with an explosion of points in a 100-78 win over Georgia Southern Saturday in Trojan Arena.
Johnson made six 3-pointers in the fourth quarter, one shy of tying the team's Division I single-game record, to finish with a team-best 18 points in just nine minutes of action.
The Eagles (7-16, 2-11 SBC) got off to a hot start making five 3-pointers in the opening quarter and ended the frame on a 7-0 run to take a 22-20 lead.
Trailing 25-22 midway through the second quarter, the Trojans (18-5, 9-4) used a 20-4 run highlighted by four triples to open a double-digit advantage. Troy dominated on the boards throughout the game outrebounding the Eagles 52-29 in the game and 23-9 on the offensive glass.
The Trojans went 15-of-38 from three-point range tied for the most in Trojan Arena history and the most by Troy overall since it made 15 against Georgia State in 2014. Combined the teams knocked down 25 threes in the game.
Shaterrika O'Neal had 13 points on 3-of-6 shooting and Amber Rivers added 12 points. Jasmine LeBlanc had 11 points, five rebounds and a pair of blocks. Kate Rodgers pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds.
Tatum Barber was lethal for Georgia Southern scoring 28 points on 9-of-17 shooting from the field and was 5-of-5 from 3-point range.

Troy will have a bit of a break playing just one game next week as South Alabama visits Trojan Arena on Saturday at 2 p.m.
