TROY GAME NOTES
Statesboro, Ga. – Troy will face the top scoring offense in the Sun Belt Conference in Georgia Southern on Wednesday night inside of Hanner Fieldhouse. Tip is set for 8 p.m. (CT) with the game televised on ESPN2.
The Trojans (11-13, 4-8 Sun Belt) are coming off a 77-63 loss to Georgia State on Wednesday night in GSU Sports Arena. Sophomore Javan Johnson led the Trojans with 13 points, a career-high five assists, three rebounds, a pair of steals and a block.
Senior Alex Hicks poured in 10 points with five rebounds and a block. Junior Devante Foster added 10 points, beginning the game going a perfect 4-of-4 from the field, alongside four rebounds on the night.
On the season, senior Jordon Varnado leads the Trojans averaging 21.5 points per game, second-most in SBC on 52.6 percent shooting while grabbing 7.8rpg, sixth-most in conference.
Hicks paces the team in rebounds per game (7.8) which is the fifth-most in conference while averaging 12.5 points per game on 54.1 percent (119-220) shooting. Sophomore Darian Adams leads the team in assists per game averaging 3.5.
Troy currently sits second in the Sun Belt Conference in blocks per game averaging 4.8 and is third in the conference shooting 47.4 (652-1376) percent from the field.
Scouting Georgia Southern
Georgia Southern cruised past South Alabama, 75-65 on Wednesday night to improve to 15-10 on the season and 7-5 in conference action.
In the game, senior Tookie Brown and freshman Calvin Wishart led the Eagles with 14 points apiece. Brown added eight assists, three rebounds and two steals to his stat line.
Brown leads Georgia Southern in points per game (17.5), 10th in conference, assists per game (5.1), second-most in Sun Belt, and in field goal percentage (.508), fourth in SBC. The Eagles lead the conference in scoring (83.7) and field goal percentage (.503).

Friday's matchup marks the 22nd meeting between Troy and Georgia Southern. The Panthers currently hold the series advantage with a 13-8 record.
Troy suffered a tough 89-83 loss in the last game played in Statesboro on March 3, 2018.In the last meeting, Georgia Southern shot a blistering 70.4 percent (19-27) in the second half to hand Troy a 90-82 loss on Jan. 17 inside of Trojan Arena.
