Grudge Match: Troy Faces South Alabama in Pivotal Sun Belt Game

GAME NOTES

TROY, Alabama – No. 1 meets No. 4 as league-leading Troy travels to face rival South Alabama in a pivotal Sun Belt Conference game Saturday at 3 p.m.

Aiming to stay put atop the league standings, the Trojans (16-3, 7-1 SBC) face a Jaguars squad that swept its 11-game non-conference slate, the second-best start in program history. However, USA (16-3, 5-3) stubbed its toe in Sun Belt opening 1-3 in league play, but seem to have rebounded with four consecutive wins.

Antoinette Lewis provides the heartbeat for the Jags and was named Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week on Monday after putting up back-to-back 20-point games, shooting 64.5 percent from the field, and averaging 23 points and nine rebounds per game in wins over Louisiana and ULM.

Sky'Lynn Holmes was equally impressive over the same span posting 36 rebounds, 20 points, eight steals, five assists and four blocks. The senior forward is averaging 13 rebounds and 8.6 pointer per game over the last five contests.

Troy enters the game ranked No. 21 in the latest CollegeInsisder.com Mid-Major poll and received four votes in the USA Today Coaches Poll.
