Trojans Welcome North Alabama Wednesday for Final Non-Conference Home Game

TROY, Ala. -- The Troy Trojans men's basketball program closes out a mini two-game home stand Wednesday afternoon, when the North Alabama Lions visit Trojan Arena. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:15 p.m.

Wednesday matchup with UNA will be Troy's final non-conference home game of the season, as Troy will conclude non-conference play with a pair of matchups at Jacksonville State (Dec. 11) and at Chattanooga (Dec. 15).

LAST TIME OUT- (Troy, 2-6)
The Trojans look to build on a convincing 104-53 victory over Shorter University Saturday afternoon. In that game, six different Trojans scored in double-figures, as all 14 Trojans saw action for the first time this season. Freshmen Jakevan Leftridge and Desmond Williams made their Troy debuts, earning their first career starts. Leftridge scored 10 points and grabbed four rebounds, while Williams also added 10 points. The Trojans hit a season-best 13 3-pointers and shot over 69 percent from the field. Junior Davion Thomas led the way for Troy, scoring a career-best 19 points and grabbing eight rebounds. Sophomore Jalen Tuck also scored a career-high six points, hitting his first two career shots from behind the arc. Â

LAST TIME OUT- (North Alabama, 4-4)
North Alabama enters Wednesday's matchup with Troy having won back-to-back games against Mississippi Valley State (73-50) and Morehead State (67-57). The Lions and Trojans have played three common opponents thus far. North Alabama defeated Carver College (95-64) and Samford (61-55), and also lost at Indiana (91-65). UNA is a perfect 4-0 at home this season, and are 0-4 on the road (South Carolina, Indiana, South Dakota State and Louisiana Tech). Â The Lions are only in their second season as a full-time member of Division-I (A-SUN). Jamari Blackmon (13.6 PPG) and Christian Agnew (10.4 PPG) have been North Alabama's best two scorers this season. In UNA's victory over Morehead State, the Lions nailed 18-of-23 from the free-throw line led by Agnew (17 points) and Payton Youngblood (16 points).

• The Trojans reached the 100-point threshold Saturday for the first time in over two years. Guard Ty Gordon nailed a 3-pointer with 1:27 left to go to give Troy its first 100-point output since Troy beat Brewton-Parker (106-71) on Nov. 16, 2017.
• Troy has recorded at least 10 offensive rebounds in seven straight contests. It's the longest streak for a Troy team since 2016-17, when Troy grabbed at least 10 rebounds in eight consecutive games (Dec. 1-23).
• Six Trojans scored in double-figures for the first time since Dec. 22, 2016 (vs. Cornell)
• The Trojans recorded their first 20-assist performance of the season on Saturday. Troy has recorded at least 13 assists in seven of eight games this season. Troy has assisted on 62.4 percent of made field goals this season.
• Troy freshmen Jakevan Leftridge and Desmond Williams made their Troy debuts on Saturday. Originally scheduled to redshirt, Leftridge and Williams also earned their first career starts. The duo combined for 20 points, four assists and four rebounds.
• The Trojans held the Shorter Hawks to just 53 points on Saturday. The 53 points allowed are the fewest a Troy team has allowed since Texas State scored just 58 points last Feb. 28.
• The Trojans made 40 field goals for the first time since the Trojans connected on 42 field goals against Point (12/14/16).

Freshmen Jakevan Leftridge made his Troy debut Saturday afternoon, recording 10 points, four rebounds and three assists. Originally scheduled to redshirt, Leftridge also made his first career start. The Dallas, Texas native was the 2019 Texas 4A State Player of the Year, after averaging 18.3 points, 8.3 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 2.3 steals and 1.4 blocks per game. Â Â
