TROY, Ala. – The 2019-20 Troy Trojans kick off the Scott Cross era Thursday night with a matchup against in-state rival UAB.

The Troy Trojans men's basketball program welcomes the UAB Blazers to Trojan Arena Thursday night. Head coach Scott Cross, Ty Gordon, Jakevan Leftridge, Tahj Small, Nick Stampley, Desmond Williams, Tyrek Williams and Khalyl Waters will all make their Trojans debut. Troy looks to return to the playoffs in 2019-20, after going 12-18 a season ago and missing the Sun Belt Conference Tournament. Key returners include guard Darian Adams returns for his fourth season for the Trojans, having made all 30 starts last season and Zay Williams who appeared in all 30 games a season ago.
UAB (0-0)
UAB is coming off a very successful 2018-19 campaign that saw the Blazers win 20 games and advance to the Conference USA semifinals for the first time since 2015. UAB's success in both the regular season and postseason earned the program a spot in the College Basketball Invitational (CBI) where they fell to Brown 83-78. UAB played an exhibition game against Morehouse College last Friday, earning a 78-61 victory. In that game, four Blazers reached double-figures including Makhtar Gueye who scored 15 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.
