Scarberry Leads Troy on Day One of Idle Hour Championship

MACON, Ga. – ShaeLee Scarberry shot 1-under in Monday's opening round of the Idle Hour Collegiate Championship to lead Troy to a third-place standing at the conclusion on the opening 36 holes.
 
Scarberry carded a pair of birdies and an eagle in her opening round and followed with a 1-over 73 on her second trip through the course where she added four more birdies. The Trojan sophomore is coming off her first collegiate win a week ago, and she currently sits in fifth place overall.
 
Troy carded rounds of 299 and 298 Monday and the Trojans find themselves eight shots back of Mercer for second place while No. 28 Charlotte has a commanding 14-shot advantage over the Bears.
 
Nicole Lorup, who tied Scarberry for the individual title last week at the Town & Country Invitational, is tied for 10th place following matching 74s in Monday's opening rounds; she carded two birdies in each round. Elisabeth Preus shot 7-over on the day with a trio of birdies to finish the day tied for 18th place.
 
Anna Claire Little shaved six shots off her 8-over in the opening round to bounce back with a 2-over 74 and finish the day with six birdies to sit tied for 26th place. Judith Castro ended Monday in a tie for 48th place, and Brooklyn Bostick is tied for 82nd playing as an individual.
 
Troy will play alongside Mercer and Charlotte for Tuesday's final round which gets underway with a shotgun start at 7 a.m.
