Trojan Return Home for Saturday Matchup Against Shorter

TROY, Ala. -- The Troy Trojans men's basketball program returns home Saturday afternoon for a matchup with Shorter College at Trojan Arena. The Trojans, who play back-to-back games at Trojan Arena, played four of their last five on the road.
Troy returns to action on Wednesday night, when North Alabama visits Trojan Arena for a 7:15 p.m. contest.

LAST TIME OUT- (Troy, 1-6)
The Trojans look to snap a three-game losing streak and tally the programs second victory of the season. Troy dropped three straight road contests, falling at Texas A&M (56-52), Samford (72-60) and Alabama A&M (80-66). In the matchup against the Aggies, Troy enjoyed an eight-point halftime lead, but Texas A&M answered with a late 12-0 run to take a nine-point lead with 74 seconds left. Troy responded with an 8-2 run to cut the A&M lead to three points with 12 seconds left, but three late A&M free throws gave the home team a 56-52 comeback victory. Last Saturday, the Trojans started extremely slowly at Samford, trailing 22-2 at the under-12 media timeout. Troy made a second half run to cut the Bulldogs lead to 14 with 12 minutes remaining, but it wasn't enough, as Troy fell 72-60. On Monday, Alabama A&M erased a 10-point early Troy lead to defeat the Trojans 80-66. In that game, Alabama A&M hit 11 3-pointers overall, and seven triples in the second half. Down just 60-56 with 10 minutes remaining, the Trojans went cold from the floor, as the Bulldogs outscored Troy 18-6 over the next nine minutes to take a 16-point advantage. It was the third consecutive game where Troy shot below 40 percent from the field.

LAST TIME OUT- (Shorter, 2-5)
Shorter College enters Saturday's matchup having lost back-to-back contests. After opening the season with a loss to Lane College in the GSC/SIAC Conference Challenge, Shorter rebounded with a slim (87-86) victory over Spring Hill College. The Hawks other win this season was against Pensacola Christian 97-84. Bryan Polanco leads the way for Shorter, averaging 16 points-per-game and 9.4 rebounds. Five different Hawks averaging over eight points-per-game. Â

• The Alabama A&M Bulldogs were the second team to score at least 80 points on the Trojans this season.
• The Trojans return to Trojan Arena Saturday after playing three straight on the road. Troy's last home game was Nov. 18 against Carver College.Â
• The Trojans assisted on 15-of-23 made baskets on Monday night. Troy has recorded at least 15 assists in five of their seven contests.
• The Trojans shot a season-best 76.2 percent from the line on Monday. Troy has now shot 27-39 from the line in the last two games.
• The Trojans missed 14-of-their-last-15 shots on Monday. After cutting the Alabama A&M lead to four points, the Trojans missed 13 consecutive shots and nine straight from behind the arc.

Charles Norman recorded his fourth game of at least 10 points Monday night. The senior scored 10 points, grabbed six rebounds and dished out a pair of assists. His 9.1 points-per-game is the fourth most on this year's team.
