TROY, Ala. -- Troy returns to Trojan Arena for a home contest with the Carver Bible College Cougars Monday evening.
Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday's matchup will be the final chance to see Troy at home until Nov. 30, when Shorter College visits for a 2 p.m. matchup a week from Saturday. Following Monday's matchup, Troy will embark on a three-game road trip that begins at Texas A&M Wednesday night before continuing at Samford on Saturday. The trip finishes with a matchup at Alabama A&M, next Monday, Nov. 25.
Â
LAST TIME OUT- Troy (0-3): The Trojans enter Monday's matchup with an overall record of 0-3, having lost a pair of home games by a combined seven points. In the season opener, the Trojans enjoyed a seven-point lead over in-state rival UAB, before falling 76-75. Last Tuesday evening, Troy led Chattanooga for nearly 35 minutes, but a late Chattanooga run pushed the visitors to a 74-68 victory.
Â
On Saturday the Trojans traveled to Indiana for a matchup at historic Assembly Hall. After a strong first six minutes that saw Troy connect on its first two 3-point attempts, the Trojans hit a bit of a rut, allowing the high-powered Hoosiers to go on a 40-10 run that ultimately proved to be the difference. In defeat, the Trojans received strong performances from Zay Williams (28 pts, 11-18 FG, 8 rebounds) and Atakan Sahinkaya (3 points, 11 rebounds) off the bench.
Â
LAST TIME OUT- Carver (0-5): The Carver College Cougars will return to the court Monday night for the first time in exactly one week. After opening the season with a four-game in four-night stretch beginning Oct. 30, the Cougars have played just one game (at North Alabama, Nov. 10) since Nov. 2. In that matchup, the Cougars received at least 10 points from three different players but couldn't overcome North Alabama's hot shooting falling 95-64. Last Sunday's matchup at North Alabama marked the first time this season that Carver held an opponent below 100 points. Loyola University (New Orleans) has the highest output by a Carver opponent this season, as the Wolfpack scored 143 (78 in the second half) points in 143-103 victory back on Nov. 1.
