Women's Tennis Posts Strong Second Day at Samford Invitational

Troy, Ala.- The Trojans completed a strong second day of action at the Samford Invitational, including strong performances in singles and doubles play alike.
In doubles play, Troy faced off against Samford, where Troy recorded a 2-1 record in the three matchups. The doubles pair of Pei Ju Hsieh and Chunxi Guo defeated the pair of Rouxanne Janse van Rensburg/ Elsa Pool 6-2. Anastasiia Khokhlova and Tijana Svitlica saw action against Grace Jennings and Cindy Oest, winning by a score of 6-2. The final Trojan pair of Anastasiia Khrustaleva and Shevita Aulana paired up against De Ugarte and Beltrame and ultimately fell by a score of 6-0.
In singles action, Troy faced off against Lipscomb, where Troy recorded a 4-3 record in the seven matches. Junior Matea Mihaljevic was defeated by Kate Popova 7-5. 6-3. Junior Pei Ju Hsieh defeated Anja Trbeznik 6-3, 7-5. Freshman Anastasiia Khrustaleva went up against Denise Buberl, losing by a score of 5-7, 6-2, 6-2. Freshman Shevita Aulana saw her first defeat come against Liza Diachenko by a score of 6-1, 6-4. Sophomore Chunxi Guo defeated Emma Zakordonic 6-3, 7-5. Freshman Tijana Svitlica defeated Maddox Bandy 6-4, 6-4, and the Trojans saw a similar result from sophomore Anastasiia Khokhlova who won by a score of 6-1, 6-3 over Eleanor Chapman.
