KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – Elisabeth Preus shot a 1-under 71, including an eagle on a par-4, to lead Troy to a fourth-place standing following Sunday's opening round of the Palmetto Intercollegiate at the Kiawah Island Golf and Country Club.

Preus' 71 was her second straight round under par coming off a third-place finish earlier this week at the Chris Banister Golf Classic. In addition to the eagle, Preus birdied a pair of par-5 holes, and she is tied for eighth place overall.

Troy is eight shots back of North Florida on the team leaderboard, and the Trojans are just two shots back of College of Charleston and Fresno State for second. The course played to an average score of 76.14 across the field of 113 golfers.

Nicole Lorup carded a pair of birdies and sits a shot back of Preus in a tie for 14^th place, while ShaeLee Scarberry and Anna Claire Little are tied for 34^th at 2-over par. Scarberry's round featured five birdies and Little added four birdies. Judith Castro carded three birdies on the day and is tied for 61^st place at 5-over.

Troy's threesome in the second round features UAB and Cincinnati with the first group hitting the course at 7:50 a.m. (CT).
