Women's Tennis Posts Strong Day One at Samford Invitational

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.,- The Trojans sent a full team to compete in their second tournament of the season in Birmingham, Alabama at the Samford Invitational, which include strong performances from both singles and doubles play.

In doubles play, Troy faced off against Lipscomb, where Troy recorded a 2-1 record in the three matchups. The doubles pair of Pei Ju Hsieh and Chunxi Guo defeated Kate Popova and Anja Trbeznik 6-2. Anastaasia Khoklova and Tijana Svitlica paired up and defeated Eleanor Chapman and Liza Diachenko 6-1. Anastaasia Khrustaleva and Shevita Aulana paired up as well, but they fell to Emma Zarkodonic and Maddox Bendy 6-3.

In singles action, Troy faced off against Tennessee-Martin, where Troy recorded a 5-2 record in the seven matches. Junior Matea Mihaljevic defeated Daphne Pratt 6-3. 6-3. Junior Pei Ju Hsieh defeated Amelia Campbel 6-2, 6-2. The Trojans saw a similar result from freshman Anastaasia Khrustaleva who defeated Mizuki Sakurai 6-2, 6-2. Freshman Shevita Aulana recorded her first collegiate victory over Sina Albersmeier 6-1, 6-3.

The final singles victory of the day came from Court 7, where sophomore Anastaasia Khoklova defeated Jillian Niedzialowski 6-2, 6-0. Over on Court 4, sophomore Chunxi Guo fell to Jule Strief 6-4, 6-2 and then on Court 6 freshman Tijana Svitlica played a hard-fought match against Aziza Aubin, but fell in three sets 1-6, 6-4, 6-3.
