TROY, Alabama – Troy head football coach Chip Lindsey rounded out his on-field coaching staff on Thursday with the addition of Ray Brown to coach on the defensive side of the football; Lindsey will announce complete staff roles at a later date.
Â
Brown joins the Troy staff following three seasons at Abilene Christian where he coached the defensive backs. The Wildcats were among the best in the nation defensively in 2018 and set a school record for interceptions.
Â
"Ray will bring a lot of energy and enthusiasm to our program and is a great addition to our strong defensive staff," Lindsey said. "He is a respected recruiter across many parts of the country including Florida and Mississippi. Ray has a strong background coaching and developing high-level defensive players, and we're excited to welcome Ray and his family to Troy."
Â
Abilene Christian finished in the top 30 nationally in 2018 with a school-record 13 interceptions paced by All-Southland Conference Adonis Davis' four picks. The Wildcats knocked off No. 11 Nicholls State as the Abilene defense held Nicholls to just 12 points.
Â
"My family and I are excited to join the Trojan Family," Brown said. "I appreciate Coach Lindsey for giving me this opportunity. I look forward to being part of an incredible program and working alongside great coaches. We have talented players and great character here, and I'm excited for the future of Trojan Football."
