The Trojans (9-8, 2-3 SBC) suffered a tough 90-82 loss to Georgia Southern on Thursday. Senior Jordon Varnado tied his career high in points (32) and field goals made (12) while also securing 10 boards, two assists, one block and a steal.Â

Sophomore Darian Adams joined Varnado in double figures with 12 points alongside four rebounds, three assists and a steal. Freshman KJ Simon tied his career high with nine points with a career-high three steals.Â

On the season, Varnado leads the Trojans averaging 19.9 points per game, fourth in the Sun Belt Conference while grabbing 7.6rpg, seventh-most in conference.

Senior Alex Hicks paces the team in rebounds per game (7.8) which is the fifth-most in conference while averaging 11.9ppg on 52.9 percent (82-155) shooting. Adams leads the team in assists per game with averaging 3.1.

Scouting Georgia State
Georgia State (14-4, 5-0 SBC) held off South Alabama in a 69-66 win to remain unbeaten in Sun Belt Conference action. In the game, junior D'Marcus Simonds led the Panthers with 18 points, seven rebounds and six assists. Senior Jeff Thomas nearly posted a double double in 15 points and nine rebounds while senior Devin Mitchell scored 15 points on five three-pointers.Â

Georgia State's entire starting five is averaging at least 10.1 points led by Simonds with 19.2 points per contest, sixth-highest in conference. Senior Malik Benlevi leads the team in rebounds per contest with 5.6 including scoring 12.3 points per game.

Saturday's matchup marks the 44th meeting between the Trojans and Panthers. Troy holds the series advantage, 24-19, winning the last four of the last six meetings. Troy defeated GSU, 68-66 in the last contest in Trojan Arena on Dec. 31, 2017.

In the last meeting, Troy dropped a 73-51 in the quarterfinals of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament on March 9, 2018. Then-junior Jordon Varnado tallied 15 points and nine boards while then-senior Wesley Person racked up 14 points.
