TROY GAME NOTES

Troy, Ala. – Troy men's basketball will host Georgia Southern on Thursday inside of Trojan Arena. Tip is set for 6 p.m. with the game broadcast live on ESPN+.

The Trojans (9-7, 2-2 SBC) fought hard in the second half to force overtime which led to a 90-85 win over Arkansas State on Saturday in First National Bank Arena. The last time Troy won an overtime game was also against Arkansas State on Feb. 8, 2018.

In the game, senior BJ Miller poured in a career-high 21 points with a career-high eight field goals made. Miller added five assists and five rebounds to his stat line. Senior Jordon Varnado posted 27 points with six rebounds and two assists.

On the season, Varnado leads the Trojans averaging 19.1 points per game, sixth in the Sun Belt Conference while grabbing 7.5 rebounds per game, seventh-most in conference.

Senior Alex Hicks paces the team in rebounds per game (7.9) which is the fourth-most in conference while averaging 12.1 points per contest on 53.4 percent (78-146) shooting. Sophomore Darian Adams leads the team in assists per game with averaging 3.1.

Scouting Georgia Southern
Georgia Southern (10-7, 2-2 SBC) suffered an 87-85 loss to Louisiana on Saturday in Statesboro. In the game, senior Tookie Brown dropped 21 points with four rebounds and four assists while sophomore Quan Jackson poured in 21 points alongside six rebounds and three steals. Junior Isaiah Crawley tallied a double double in 13 points and 10 boards.

Brown leads the team averaging 16.5 points per game with Jackson right behind him scoring 16.3 points per contest. Senior Ike Smith (14.7) and Crawley (11.7) also average double figures thus far. Brown dishes 5.1 assists per game, third-highest in conference.

Series History
Thursday's matchup marks the 21st overall meeting between the two teams. Georgia Southern currently holds the series advantage with a 12-8 record. Troy dropped an 86-80 decision in the last contest in Trojan Arena (12/29/17).

In the last meeting, Troy fell 89-83 in Georgia on March 3, 2018. Then-junior Jordon Varnado tallied 27 points, five boards, three blocks, two assists and two steals while then-junior Alex Hicks racked up a double double in 14 points and 15 rebounds.

Then-senior Wesley Person and then-junior BJ Miller both added 14 points.
