Miller, Troy Overcome Arkansas State in Overtime

Jonesboro, Ark. – Troy senior BJ Miller dropped a career-high 21 points in the 90-85 overtime nail-biting win over Arkansas State in Sun Belt Conference men's basketball action on Saturday evening inside of First National Bank Arena.
Trailing 78-73 with 1:21 remaining in the second half after a tough layup made by Arkansas State (8-9, 2-2 SBC), sophomore Javan Johnson grabbed the offensive rebound after a missed three, dribbled out to the three-point line and made a side-step three pointer from the top of the key to make it 78-75.
On the ensuing possession, Miller would hustle back on defense and draw a charge to give Troy the ball with 29 seconds left. In Troy's final possession Miller drove to the cup and banked in a floater to knot the score at 78 and force overtime.
Over the first 3:18 of overtime both teams took control and loss the lead before Miller made a layup with 1:42 remaining to give Troy (9-7, 2-2 SBC) an 86-85 lead that it would not relinquish.
Miller added five assists and five rebounds to his stat line with a career-high eight field goals made. Senior Jordon Varnado posted his eighth 20-point performance of the season in 27 points with six rebounds and two assists.
Sophomore Javan Johnson added 17 points including six of Troy's 12 overtime points alongside five boards while senior Alex Hicks added 12 points.
