Troy Volleyball Finishes Second at Blue Raider Bash

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Troy split its two matchups Saturday to wrap up a runner-up finish in the Blue Raider Bash, including a four-set win over host Middle Tennessee.

Cheyenne Hayes combined for 30 kills in the two matches to lead the Trojans (4-2) to its second consecutive runner-up – Troy finished second in the Troy Invitational last weekend. Hayes and Amara Anderson were selected to the all-tournament team.

Troy followed its thrilling five-set win Friday night by taking down Middle Tennessee (25-21, 22-25, 25-14, 25-21) in its first game Saturday afternoon.

After winning the first and dropping the second set, Troy was locked with the Blue Raiders at 7-7 before outscoring them 18-5 down the stretch to clinch the pivotal set. As a team, the Trojans hit at .320 on the match, led by four double-digit kill performances – Belle Waldrop (15), Cheyenne Hayes (14), Savannah Moore (13) and Jenni Young (10).

The story was flipped in game two of the day, as Austin Peay knocked off the Trojans (19-25, 26-24, 25-17, 19-25) to break their modest three-match winning streak. Amara Anderson recorded 44 assists in the second match – after 48 in the first game of the day – and leads the conference in the category.

• Amara Anderson tallied 156 assists this weekend – 68 Friday, 48 and 44 Saturday – to earn all-tournament honors. Anderson's 68 assists tied for the most by a Troy player in a single game since the move to the Sun Belt.
