TROY, Alabama – Troy baseball signees Logan Cerny and Bay Witcher have both been named Collegiate Baseball High School All-Americans and Georgia Dugout 7A and 5A Players of the Year, respectively, following spectacular senior seasons.
Cerny was named a First Team High School All-American and was selected to the Rawlings-Perfect Game All-Southeast Region team after leading Parkview High School to the GHSAA 7A state championship. He batted .396 with 10 homers, nine doubles, 34 RBI and 17 stolen bases on the season.
Witcher, much like his future teammate, led Loganville High School to Georgia's 5A state championship. The Second Team All-American and Atlanta Metro All-Star established himself as one of the more dominant pitchers in Georgia high school baseball history after finishing 10-0 on the mound with a 0.24 ERA.
Troy recruiting coordinator Shane Gierke signed both athletes back in November and is excited about the future of the baseball program with guys like them.
"We couldn't be prouder of these guys and the accomplishments and awards they've collected at the end of their high school careers," Gierke commented. "We look forward to seeing them in a Trojan uniform for years to come."
Overall, the 2018 signing class was ranked in the top 100 nationally by Perfect Game – the second-best class in the Sun Belt Conference.
