TROY, Alabama – Troy's 2018 regular season will come to a close after a three-game set with in-state rival South Alabama at Riddle-Pace Field; first pitches on Thursday, Friday and Saturday are all set for 6 p.m.
Â
A season full of success for Trojans (36-17, 17-10) culminates with a three-game set against their biggest rivals, as the two battle for the third overall seed in the Sun Belt Conference tournament next week.
Â
Troy, still the conference's top hitting and top pitching team, moved up into the top 40 in the RPI rankings after taking down No. 22 Auburn at Riddle-Pace Field Tuesday – knocking on the door for an at-large bid into the NCAA tournament.
Â
Over the weekend, fans will be treated to a matchup of some of the top hitters in the Sun Belt, as Joey Denison and Matt Sanders square off against South Alabama's (29-21, 17-9) Dylan Hardy and company.
Â
Denison (.400), Sanders (.367) and Hardy (.348) have three of the top four batting averages in the conference – followed closely by redshirt freshman Rigsby Mosley at a .345 clip.
Â
However, success for the Trojans is going to start on the pitcher's mound. RHP Andrew Crane (5-4, 3.30), RHP Levi Thomas (2-0, 0.93) and RHP Daren Osby (6-1, 4.62) will have the tough task of stymieing the powerful Jag offense.
