Troy Softball Continues Conference Play; Dates and Times Altered

GAME NOTES
TROY, Alabama- The Troy softball team (20-17, 5-7 SBC) aims to right ship with a three-game Sun Belt series at Appalachian State (13-18, 2-7 SBC). Due to projected snowfall in the area, the Trojans will play at 2:30 and 4:30 p.m. CT on Friday and finish the series at noon CT on Saturday.

The Trojans look to bounce back after falling in three of its last four game. The squad put up a big win last weekend, defeating Georgia State 4-1, but the Panthers fought back and took the next two games, earning the series win. Troy earned its 20th win of the season as the team defeated Florida A&M at home on Wednesday, but dropped the second game of the doubleheader.

Sophomore Katie Webb regained the top batting average coming in at .350, and Logan Calhoun barely trails at .344. The duo has combined for 86 hits and 46 RBI.

Freshman hurler Annie Willis ranks second in the conference with 1.68 ERA. Through 96.0 innings, she has thrown 76 strikeouts and has only given up 26 runs.

Appalachian State enters the series at 13-18 on the year. Jenny Dodd paces the Mountaineers with .397 at the plate. Alisha Josey has posted a team-high 23 RBI and seven doubles. In the circle for the Mountaineers, sophomore Kenzie Longanecker leads with a 2.97 ERA, with 48 strikeouts.

NOTEWORTHY:
- Troy continues to dominate defensively, posting the fifth best fielding percentage in the nation through 37 games and the best in the Sun Belt (0.980).
- Troy's last outing at Sywassink/Lloyd Family Stadium resulted in the Trojans outscoring the Mountaineers 59-26 through the three game series. In the final game, Troy won 25-19, the highest scoring game in Troy softball history.
- Senior Carli Kayler set an NCAA record as a sophomore in Troy's 25-19 win, with four home runs in a game. She also solely holds an NCAA record with 17 total total bases in a game in Troy's final meeting with the Mountaineers in Boone, N.C.Â
- Logan Calhoun ranks second the Sun Belt with 31 runs scored and third with 44 hits. She is also third in the conference with 14 stolen bases.
- 10 different Trojans have blasted a home run this season, led by Webb with four. Bailey Taylor's and Stephanie Snyder's home runs were both grand slams.
