JONESBORO, Arkansas – A new school record for single-season triples was set and Troy scored the go-ahead run in the top of the ninth to down Arkansas State, 4-3, in the first game of the Sun Belt Conference series at Tomlinson Stadium.

The Trojans' (26-12, 9-7) momentous triple came off the bat of Rigsby Mosley in the sixth inning and an errant throw into the dugout sent him home to tie the game at three.

Then in the top of the ninth, Brandon Lockridge was plunked by a high-velocity fastball with the bases loaded to bring home Manning Early for the eventual game-winning run with two outs in the frame.

The RBI was Lockridge's second of the night and Early, who got on with a one-out double earlier in the inning, finished 2-for-3 with the double, run and an RBI.

Troy was put in the position to win by an outstanding pitching performance from starter Andrew Crane – took a no-decision after 6.1 solid innings with five strikeouts, no walks and allowed three runs on seven hits.

CJ Carter (5-3) followed with just as strong of an outing, earning the win after 2.2 perfect innings with four strikeouts – he threw just 24 pitches to eight batters.

Arkansas State (12-22, 4-12) had its chances, but couldn't pick up a timely hit in the league series opener. Reliever Bo Ritter (1-1) allowed a run on two hits in two innings to suffer the hard-luck loss.

Notable
• Troy set a new school single-season record with its 20^th triple this year on a three-bagger from Rigsby Mosley in the top of the sixth inning.

• All but one Trojan recorded a hit in the game, with three turning in multi-hit nights – Joey Denison, Rigsby Mosley and Manning Early. In the last two games, Mosley is 5-for-9 (.555) with a single, double, triple and homer.

• Brandon Lockridge drove in two runs in the game to record his 15^th career multi-RBI game in three seasons with the Trojans.

Troy and A-State will meet Saturday for a doubleheader starting at 2 p.m. RHP Daren Osby and RHP Rush Hixon will get the starts for the Trojans in the two games.
