TROY, Alabama – Troy and Georgia State are set to square off in a three-game conference series at Riddle-Pace Field; first pitch for Thursday's series opener is scheduled for 6 p.m., Friday at 6 p.m. and Saturday at 1 p.m.
Troy (17-8, 3-3) will head into this week's conference play as one of the top teams across many of the league's statistical categories. The Trojans rank second in the Sun Belt in team ERA and fielding percentage, while ranking third in team batting average.
The Trojan pitching staff has allowed just 26 earned runs in the last 13 games – an ERA of just 2.01 – and will look to continue that trend with RHP Andrew Crane (3-2, 3.75), RHP Rush Hixon (1-1, 3.05) and RHP Daren Osby (3-0, 3.60) this weekend.
Offense was the name of the game Tuesday night against Alabama State, as Troy strung together 19 hits to put 14 runs up on the board. Seven different Trojans recorded multi-hit games, led by senior Brody Binder – who finished 4-for-5 with an RBI in the matchup.
Last season, the Panthers (12-12, 1-4) were able to take the series from Troy, 2-1, when the two met in Atlanta. Georgia State boasts one of the top pitchers in the league in Hunter Gaddis, along with one of the most consistent hitters in Nick Gatewood.
