Troy Looks For Five-Straight Wins Saturday At Appalachian State

BOONE, N.C. – With just three away games left in the season, Troy will put a four-game winning streak to the test with a trip to the mountains to take on Appalachian State at 2:30 p.m. (CT) on Saturday in the Holmes Center.

It was a dramatic start to the road trip as the Trojans (13-13, 7-6) rallied from 12 down in the second-half to upend Coastal Carolina 66-65 on Thursday night. Kevin Baker hit a free throw with 22 seconds to play and then secured a rebound with three seconds left to help run out the clock.

Baker's heroics propelled Troy in a night in which all three starting forwards had three or more fouls and with Coastal Carolina finishing the game with a 39-29 edge in rebounds and 34-14 advantage in points in the paint. Troy pulled off the victory thanks to a swarming defense that held Coastal Carolina to six points in the final six minutes and two in the final two minutes.

Troy's win was a crucial one as three of the final five games are on the road with three of those contests coming against three of the four (UL Lafayette, Georgia Southern, Georgia State) seeds in the Sun Belt. The Trojans will face UL Lafayette at home on Feb. 22 before Senior Day on Feb. 24 against ULM.

Appalachian State (11-16, 6-8) sits just two games below Troy in the conference standings after falling 77-66 to South Alabama on Thursday. The Mountaineers are 3-4 overall at home in Sun Belt play and 1-4 in the past five in the Holmes Center.
