TROY GAME NOTES
Troy, Ala. – Troy men's basketball will play its final game in 2018 and wrap up its non-conference slate with a bout against University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Saturday at noon inside of Trojan Arena.
The Trojans (6-5) edged UAB on Dec. 21 before break, 74-73 to earn their first victory over the Blazers in program history. Senior Jordon Varnado posted a career-high 32 points on a career-high 12 field goals made including netting the go-ahead bucket with 11 seconds remaining.
Senior Alex Hicks added a double double, his second of the season, in 10 points and 10 rebounds. Senior BJ Miller tallied 14 points with five rebounds, and a pair of assists.
On the season Varnado leads the Trojans averaging 17.5 points per game, seventh in the Sun Belt Conference and is tied with Hicks in rebounds per game (7.7) which is the fourth-most in conference. Hicks leads Troy and the Sun Belt Conference shooting 54.3 percent (57-105). Miller paces Troy averaging 3.0 assists per game.
Scouting UAPB
UAPB (3-9) fell to Missouri State, 93-72 in its final game before the holiday break. In the game, sophomore Shaun Doss poured in a game-high 23 points on an effective 9-of-12 from the field including three made threes alongside a pair of boards, two assists and a steal. Senior Martaveous McKnight added 16 points and five rebounds.
McKnight leads the Golden Lions averaging 23.5 points, 12th in Division I, 2.7 assists and 1.7 steals per game. McKnight is tied with sophomore Terrance Banyard averaging 5.3rpg.
Series History
Saturday's contest marks the third-ever meeting between the two teams. Troy leads the series 2-0 with both games being played at neutral sites. The first ever meeting was Nov. 23, 1990, where Troy slipped past UAPB, 82-80.
In the last meeting on Nov. 12, 2017, the Trojans defeated the Golden Lions 81-57 in the Rainbow Classic in Hawai'i. In the game, five Trojans tallied double figures led by then-senior Wesley Person with 17 points including four three-pointers made.

This game will feature Alumni Association Appreciation Night with up to four (4) complimentary tickets for members of the Troy University Alumni Association. These members will be asked to show their membership ID at the Trojan Arena Box Office in order to claim their tickets.
