Troy, Ala. – After a much-needed break, the Troy men's basketball team will be back in action on Saturday morning, as it welcomes North Alabama for its final game of the Barclays Center Classic. Tip is set for 11:30 a.m. inside Trojan Arena.

The Trojans ended their three-game skid after a hard-fought 82-77 win over Central Arkansas this past Sunday. Senior Jordon Varnado paced Troy with 21 points alongside eight boards, a pair of assists and two blocks. Sophomore Javan Johnson posted a career night dropping a personal-best 21 points, including 15 in the second half.

Additionally, Troy tallied four scorers in double digits (Varnado 21, Johnson 20, Rodgers 12 and Miller 11) marking the first time accomplishing that feat since March 3, 2018 against Georgia Southern. Varnado's and Johnson's scoring effort marked the first time two Trojans scored 20 points or more since former Trojan Wesley Person (22) and Varnado (21) did it against East Tennessee State on Nov. 22, 2017.

This season, Varnado is leading the team in points per game (15.8) and rebounds per game (9.8). Varnado's 9.8rpg is the second-most in the Sun Belt thus far. Senior Alex Hicks adds 11.0ppg on 55.8 percent (24-of-43) from the field.

Scouting North Alabama
North Alabama cruised past Martin Methodist 80-68 on Thursday in Florence, Ala. In the game, UNA saw three Lions drop double-digit points led by senior Kendarius Smith and freshman Jamari Blackmon scoring a game-high 19 points each. Smith added six rebounds, two assists and a steal to his stat line. Blackmon leads the team averaging 16.6 points and 2.4 steals per game while Smith adds 11.0ppg. Senior Kendall Stafford paces the Lions grabbing 5.6 boards a game.

Series History
Saturday's game will mark the first-ever Division I meeting between the two teams. Prior to both teams entering Division I, the two teams met in the second round of the NCAA Division II South Region Tournament on March 17, 1991. Troy State would suffer a tough 93-86 loss in the game at Sartain Hall. Against opponents in the Atlantic-Sun, the Trojans hold a 42-25 record.
